Message from the Principal

Greetings Connaught Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! We are delighted to welcome both our new and returning families to Connaught Public School. We hope you enjoyed a restful summer and are as excited as we are for the year ahead.

I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Leslie Marjerrison, and I am honoured to serve the Connaught Public School as your new principal. I am thrilled to become part of this wonderful school community and look forward to meeting our students and families in the coming weeks. I have heard so many positive things about Connaught, including its strong sense of community, caring staff, and commitment to student success. I am excited to work alongside all of you as we continue to support and celebrate the learning and well-being of our students.

Even though our school has been closed to students over the summer months, there has been plenty of activity taking place at Connaught P.S. Under the leadership of our Head Custodian, Mrs. Miller, the custodial team has done a phenomenal job preparing the building for the new school year. When you visit the school, you will see that everything is sparkling and ready to welcome students back.

Turnaround Day will take place on September 29th across the Simcoe County District School Board. Please note that student class placements remain tentative until this date. Class organizations may need to change based on student enrollment numbers, which could result in classes being added, removed, or adjusted to balance class sizes. Should any changes be required, students would begin in their new classes on September 29. We will communicate any updates in advance and work closely with families to minimize disruption throughout this annual process.

We are looking forward to another exceptional year of learning, growth, and community building at Connaught Public School. Please be sure to say hello when you see us when you drop off or pick up your child each morning and afternoon. We value our partnership with families and look forward to getting to know each of you throughout the year.

Wishing all of our Connaught families a wonderful start to the school year.

Warm regards,

Ms. Marjerrison and Mr. McIntosh

School Council Updates

What is a School Council?

School Councils play a vital advisory role in the education system in Ontario. They provide a forum through which parents, guardians, and other members of school communities can contribute to improving student achievement and school performance. School Councils can make recommendations to principals and school boards on any matter, and principals and school boards consult with School Councils on a variety of matters. Elected School Council members are available to consult with parents and to raise their questions and concerns at School Council meetings.

School Council Meetings

All School Council meetings are open to parents and guardians of students at Connaught P.S. We encourage parents and guardians to attend meetings. You can contribute ideas and keep up-to-date on what is happening at our school. Participating in the School Council is a rewarding experience and allows parents and guardians to make a difference in their children’s education. Meetings take place at 6:00 p.m. in the school and we send out a reminder in advance of the meetings each month.

Have questions about the School Council, or wish to reach out to a School Council member? Email us at [email protected].

Reminders

Afternoon Pick up Routine

Kindergarten students will be dismissed by staff at the front gate. Please wait on the side walk and grassy area OUTSIDE of the school yard for your child to be dismissed into your care. Please arrange a place (front of the school, south gate, north gate) to meet your child (ren) in grades 1-8. Please avoid the bus zone between 3:00 pm and 3:35 pm.

Pets Prohibited

As much as we all love our furry friends, pets are not permitted on school property.

Bussing

Please ensure your children are outside waiting for the bus 15 minutes prior to the designated  pick-up time. Similarly, especially in the first few weeks of school, your children may be  dropped off 10-15 minutes later than the scheduled time. This will sort itself out once routines and routes are established and practiced. Sign up for transportation notifications at https://simcoecountyschoolbus.ca

If you have not received bussing information, please email Mrs. Eskra at [email protected].

Back Packs

We have a limited number of backpack donations. Please contact the office if you require a back pack for your child.

Cell Phones

Students in grades K-6 are not permitted to have cell phones at school. Students in grades 7 and 8 may have cell phones at school, but with restrictions. Students may not use their phone to contact home, unless they have been given permission by a staff member. If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact the office and we will relay the message.
